Divine Dolphin, Released an Olive Ridley Sea Turtle, Tangled to a Fishing Line

Fishing lines continue to incidentally capture sea turtles, this time in the South Pacific of Costa Rica.

We have a video report from our friends of Divine Dolphin who, while doing maintenance work on their engines and boats, found an Olive Ridley Turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea) entangled in the flag of a fishing line.

Fortunately, the turtle was very active and apparently had just been caught by the fishing gear. The Captain of the boat, named Delfin Amor, owned by Divine Dolphin, Mr. Mauricio Aguero, did not hesitate to jump into the water to free the turtle before it suffered more damage.

We share the video that our friends sent us, and again, we call to the conscience of fishers,  to avoid using this type of gear, in areas where turtles occur.

It is gratifying to know that there are people, who spontaneously, like Don Mauricio, help save sea turtles.
